Based at our facility in Littlestown, PA, you will source everything from raw materials and tool steels to precision-machined components and complete subassemblies — working directly with domestic suppliers and international partners across Europe. This role combines technical knowledge with commercial skill.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers for raw materials, tooling components, machined parts, and subassemblies based on quality, cost, and delivery requirements
- Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs) to determine procurement requirements for customer orders
- Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and contracts with suppliers to achieve best value while maintaining quality standards
- Issue and manage purchase orders in our ERP system (Total ETO), track order status, and ensure on-time delivery to support production schedules
- Coordinate international procurement and logistics
- Monitor supplier performance through delivery tracking, quality metrics, and cost analysis — escalate issues and drive corrective action when needed
- Process and verify incoming invoices against purchase orders and receiving records, resolving discrepancies promptly
- Build and maintain a qualified supplier base, including onboarding new vendors, conducting supplier evaluations, and managing approved supplier lists
- Manage supplier claims and coordinate resolution of quality or delivery issues in collaboration with engineering and quality teams
- Stay current on market conditions, material pricing trends, and supply chain risks that could impact production
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
- 3+ years of experience in technical purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing environment (metalworking, tooling, machinery, or similar)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and bills of materials
- Strong negotiation skills and demonstrated experience managing supplier relationships
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems for purchase order management and inventory control
- Working knowledge of import/export processes, international shipping documentation, and U.S. customs requirements
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for cost analysis and reporting
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
Preferred:
- Experience with Total ETO or similar engineer-to-order ERP systems
- Background in metal forming, tooling, die making, or packaging machinery industries
- APICS, CPSM, or similar supply chain/procurement certification
- German language skills (beneficial for communication with European sister companies)
- Experience with incoterms, letters of credit, and international trade compliance
